Car navigation system through a Robot Teddy bear

June 9, 2008 - 4:14 AM : Related Entries - Wheels

robot_teddy.jpg We’ve posted about the Teddy spycam before, this time Teddy features in the form of a Talking Car navigation system developed by engineers at the iXs Research Corporation. Standing 30 centimeters (1 Ft) tall the Teddy Robot uses the 6 joints in the arms and neck to make gestures while providing spoken directions. You can’t take the Teddy for a toy, as it has an alcohol detection sensor embedded in its neck, so if he smells booze, he’d interrogate “ You haven’t been drinking, have you?” When his other sensors detect reckless driving, he’d say, “Watch out” When you stroke his head, he provides you with extra information about nearby landmarks. The Robot Teddy could give you company on a lonesome drive or grill the **** out of you at times, but it certainly forms an interesting component of your car.

Volvo_City_Safety_1.jpg Slow speed collisions may not really seem to be a nemesis for some drivers but they are prevalent none the less. Here's something that can prevent these underrated disasters. It is basically a collage of a few technologies, namely: Volvo City Safety, Mercedes Distronic Plus, and Honda CMBS which have been through some rigorous testing by British Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre Thatcham. Now coming back to the fact that such accidents go unnoticed; a statistic from our source says that a whopping 75% of all accidents are of this category. Nissan's Color Changing Paint Fascinates The Eye

November 13, 2007 - 7:22 AM : Related Entries - Wheels

nissan_color_changing_paint.jpg I like things like these popping up every now and then. Nissan or may be some other manufacturer had something similar to this topic rumored all around auto sites. Anyway, this time it's a bit more realistic. Nissan have managed to come up with some pretty cool color changing paint. The paint can be changed by a click of a button (cops beware!). Some amount of electric charge is all it takes to make the magic happen. Since electricity is involved in the color changing of the car, it is necessary for the car to be in motion.

Fake%20Sun%20Roof.JPG
Here’s something to make you smile if not eager. Owning a car with a sun roof may seem to be cool or a status symbol or something. For that reason, some whacko who really finds himself too pressed down with the burden of not having a car with a sun roof, has decided to invent something that comes close to a real sun roof. The Decano sunroof (gosh! It has a name and all) attaches to the roof of your vehicle and appears as if your car really has a sin roof up there.

This year at the IAA in Frankfurt, Nissan will unveil the Mixim Electric Car. The car is made mobile with the ‘Super Motor' electric motor of the company and some compact lithium-ion batteries. The car is a four wheel drive and weighs fifty kilograms less than a ton. Other stats state that it is 3.7m long, 1.800m wide and 1.4m tall. Driving the Mixim will equal a futuristic experience. Given the steering and the bullet like design, the car seems to be making me edgy.

Jaguar XF: A Peek

August 29, 2007 - 9:40 AM : Related Entries - Wheels

Jaguar%20XF.jpg

The Jaguar XF seems pretty good to be of concept car material. Heavily inspired by the looks of the C-XF, this sports saloon by Jaguar has all the makings of a classic. It comes with one 2.7-litre V6 diesel engine (0-100kph in 8.2 secs and a top speed of 229 kph) and three petrol engine options, namely 3.0-litre V6, 4.2 n/a V8 petrol and 4.2 s/c V8 petrol. The V8 engines can speed up to 250kph. Safety is a major issue in sports cars. The features stuffed into this one include electronic brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, anti-lock braking system, a pedestrian contact sensing system, blind spot monitor, front and rear parking aids, rear camera parking aid, adaptive cruise control, automatic speed limiter, tyre pressure monitoring, dynamic stability control, cornering brake control, and engine drag torque control and understeer control logic for deceleration.

Confederate Renovatio: Handmade Gift from the Uncle Sam

Confederate%20Renovatio.jpg

Remember those cool futuristic bikes that featured in some cool Japanese toons of yesteryear? Here’s one, for real. The Renovatio is a pretty cool machine by Confederate and appears to be almost frameless. It is among those mean machines that have tires almost floating beneath the body of the bike. The name that means ‘rebirth’ in Latin isn’t all that common either. This monster is empowered by a thrilling 1686cc v-twin engine. You can expect a horsepower of anything above 150hp from this one. The Renovatio makes up for all the missing hilarity in the design of Confederate’s earlier ventures such as the Wraith and Hellcat.

2009 Hyundai Elantra: USB and All

2009%20Hyundai%20Elantra.jpg
This seems to be pretty much good news to me as the iPhone was. The 2009 Hyundai Elantra will be one of the more awaited makes of the company. It seems to me that Hyundai have been a bit too touchy about not being the most technically advanced car makers around. So to everyone’s relief they have proved their point as one of the better accessorized manufacturers. The 2009 Elantra will have USB connectivity and probably even support for Microsoft’s Blue&Me system. It is now possible to do everything from charging your cellphone to cooling a can of beer using a USB mini fridge and other loads of gizmos that roll out with USB support.
